gorontalo 1

February is a Month of love. We chose to visit Pulo Cinta ( which in English means Love islands) located in Gorontalo, Indonesia. There is only one resort in Gorontalo, and the shape of this resort looks like a heart shape. If you guys know how the Maldive’s look? Pulo Cinta somehow made looks like Maldive’s island.

We flew three hours flight from Jakarta, direct flight to Gorontalo with a local airline. It cost IDR. 2000.000/person. When we arrived at Djallalludin Airport, the driver is already waiting for us, and we still need to drove two hours by car. We arrived in a little port where we needed to take a small boat to go to the island and took us 15 minutes to get there.

We arrived at the resort around 10 am, and unfortunately our room was not ready yet. The reception Ms. Helga was very helpful to give my husband and I another villa to rest while we were waiting for our original room. They gave us a sunset villa after waiting for 1 hour and a half, and we were happy with a new place. The view from the room is incredible, totally felt like we were in heaven. Our suite has a balcony and directly to the ocean. Jakob jumped and swam when we arrived :). They don’t have hot water for shower. Anyway, we don’t need it because the weather is warm already. We need a room temperature water to feel refreshing.

So far our stay was very relaxing and have quality time together. We went to snorkeling, and we found lots of beautiful creatures under the sea. It is very convenient that the price per night included for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I booked 3D2N for IDR. 3.500.000/nights. we got another advantage that we got complimentary drop-off and pick up to the airport plus one-time romantic dinner by the beach.

They only have one restaurant in the resort; we will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same place. The staffs are accommodating and smiling a lot (typically Indonesian), Sadly, the team doesn’t have proper training in hospitality. So don’t expect that they will serve you as a five stars hotel does. For examples: the bottle of water is empty, and they don’t bother to change with a new one. Or if you order something you need to deliver it promptly. They are nice, but they need someone to train them properly.

The food for breakfast and lunch are not up to the standards if you think about the price that we spent the same amount we need to pay for five stars hotel. Especially for the foreigner, they don’t have enough variance to eat. I saw some Thailand couple doesn’t even have their breakfast because of it. And the last day we stayed at the resort, my husband asked for a beer on our romantic dinner, and the answered is FINISHED, we asked for bread on the breakfast, and the answered is the beers are FINISHED, and we asked for a strawberry jam the respond is FINISHED. I don’t think they have a proper stock of their food and beverages quantity for the guest. And every time we requested something, they always delivered it to almost 30-40min times. So for foreigner wants to come to this place, I suggested to bringing your snacks and bread, especially for your breakfast and in case they run out of the western foods. They do have room service, but they only serve Indomie (which is Indonesian noodles). For dinner time, the food is much better than breakfast and lunch.

When we checked out, we got two t-shirts as a souvenir which is a nice gesture to remember how beautiful the places was. I recommend this place because the view is breathtaking. And bring your Snacks :P.
