This time I will share my weekend vacation visited Belitung Island. Is an island on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia in the Java Sea. We went there for 3 days 2 nights and visited couples of islands around. From Soekarno-hatta airport we took Nam airlines to go to Tanjung Pandan Airport. It took us 1-hour flight (it is pretty closed from Jakarta!!). When we arrived at Tanjung pandan airport, our driver “his name is Deka” welcomed us with his smile and very hospitality person (we can see that this wasn’t the first time for him to do this Our first day planned is to go directly to Pantai Tanjung Selayang, Hoping island (Pasir island, Batu Berlayar island, Lengkuas island, Kepayang island).
We went for snorkeling (oh, I meant, I am the only one who did snorkeling because unfortunately, my husband was not feeling well that time). When I had snorkeling, I was amazed at the views “down there.” I cannot believe they had beautiful colors and a little fish, and we can swim with all of those colorful fishes. The coral right offshore in many places is still in fantastic shape. All The island that we visited has clear blue water, sand, and rocky beaches.
At the Hoping island, we rested with a very refreshing coconut juice and sat on the bottom of coconut trees. On this island stands a 100+ year lighthouse. We went inside to the tower which operated until now. Unfortunately, when we went there, they have some renovation on the upper floors so that we couldn’t go to the top. Besides the lighthouse, you can see there is Granit rock which bests for taking some pictures.
We did not realize that times have gone pretty fast because we were enjoying the islands so much. Our stomach felt like dancing as we were hungry already. We headed to the next island to grab our lunch. We had massive fresh seafood, and freeflow coffee and tea included on our trip. It was only cost us IDR.100.000/ Person, we’ve got a grilled fish, Belitung fish soup (i forgot what the name it was, but it tasted so good), crabs, fried tempura calamari, morning glory, rice (of course) hahaha and some smalls prawn. We were full till we are lazy to stand up and walked to our little boat.
The day has finished and time to go to the hotel and rest. We stayed at Santika Hotel which newly opened, The hotel had a fantastic view and private beach too, which is Awesome. The property is excellent but the staffs are not well trained yet “I guess” there were some little things they need to improve to make it better.
Anyway the Next day we went for Breakfast overlooking the sea, and we went to the private beach afterward. By 12noon Deka (our guide) picked us up in the lobby and we are ready to go for sightseeing in other parts of Belitung island. We went to Laskar Pelangi movie scene place. Is a 2008 Indonesian film adapted from the famous same-titled novel by Andrea Hirata?.
The second day is not much activity till we came back to the hotel right before dinner time. It was the last night we were there, and we spent our dinner at the restaurant beside the swimming pool area.
The third day is our last day. We weren’t ready to leave the hotel and the beaches. We spent almost 3 hours on the beach right before our guide pick us up for check out. It comes when we need to leave and not to forget we stopped by the shopping souvenir. We bought some calamari crakers for Jakob’s staff member at the office and my family. After that, we went to Kaolin Lake Belitung; it is Once a mining area, this scenic lake known for its bright blue waters & white mineral deposits. The last stopped was at the Raja seafood Belitung. It was a famous restaurant served seafood and renowned food of Belitung noodles.
Our stomachs are full and beautiful memories are saved. we are ready to go back to our mainland Jakarta.
